Youth Ministry at Zion
Our Purpose
We minister to middle school and high school aged youth in many ways. Here are some, but certainly not all of the ways we incorporate Zion’s PURPOSE: Strengthen, Touch, & Point.
Zion has a dedicated Youth Board that works to develop the faith lives of our youth through regular Bible study, fellowship events, servant events, and participation in worship services.
Middle School Youth (6th through 8th grades)
Monthly Fellowship Events:
These are regular monthly activities that allow youth to build positive relationships with other youth and to encourage growth in their understanding of God’s Word. Some event examples include: Retreats, Movie Nights, Lock-Ins, Cookies & Costume Night, Youth Conferences, etc.
Confirmation Instruction (6th and 7th grades or 7th and 8th grades)
This two year program is based on Luther’s Small Catechism and teaches the basics of Christian doctrine. Students are required to do memory work and be regular in attendance at worship and Sunday school. There are three tests during the year which students must pass to demonstrate their comprehension of Scripture. Students also lead brief opening devotions and provide treats for their class on their devotion day. First Communion is received on the day of Confirmation, typically the second Sunday in May with public examination during the prior Saturday service.
High School Youth - Youth In Christ (YIC)

These are regular monthly activities that allow youth to build positive relationships with other youth and to encourage growth in their understanding of God’s Word. Some event examples include: Summer Servant Events, National Youth Gatherings, Trips to Adventureland, Bowling & Movie Nights, Lock-Ins, Baseball Games etc.
